I must say, Kandahar is a nice Iranian movie. It's about the reign of the Taliban, enough said, must practice self-censorship in this area. We can have a conversation about the movie over some Starbucks if it's interesting enough... about the social problems in Afghanistan and America and all... it is supposed to be a 'road' movie, a movie depicting a journey of an Afghan-Canadian journalist travelling back to save her sister from suicide, and the socio-political landscape of Afghanistan through her eyes and experience. The women are perpetually never seen because of the burqas they wear to cover themselves, which i'm not sure of the reason, whether it's oppression or the Taliban regime and the protagonist frequently asserts her female identity by lifting her burqa... she is supposedly liberated from the tradition of wearing the burqa and does not see it's significance, but to get into Kandahar, she will have to wear it to disguise herself, to be accepted...
Annoying factor: We never know if she gets to Kandahar or not, and what happens to her sister in the end. Miss Ng says it's because it is the journey that is important, not the ending, which is left open-ended. She said that we are so conditioned by the traditional Hollywood formula that a movie like this leaves us no closure when we want it. Haha. i finally got a new computer keyboard! it's like the laptop kind and flat... i like! Haha... but i've been so busy lately i wish i didn't have to eat or sleep... then i could spend the time doing the things that need to get done... and the weather lately hasn't been of much help for the single cam project... makes it worse that my talents have a limited availability... yucks... then there's the film theory term paper which i'm going to get started on once i get home from work tonight... i'll try to get home early... i'm going to tweak my hypothesis a little and not restrict it to musicals anymore... then there's the website translation to do... i've done most of the technical translation part, so i'm left with the overview of the school from a student's point of view... the radio drama is going well though, we make an efficient team, tracy, munah and i... and it is fun to do to boot... haha...
i now have two tuition students, but i need to rearrange the timeslots... the timing right now is killing me! i don't have time to do anything properly! but teaching is fun though...

I like being happy... People say that i have no worries... but that's bullshit... I'm just optimistic about it... why waste time and energy being all sad/depressed/emo-ey when you can be happy and solve the problem faster being happy? Being negative zaps the life out of you and all the cumulative bad thoughts will manifest and sort of eat you up, like those dementors in harry potter... why fall into such a dumb trap? Having money problems, getting an F for an assignment, having a crazy family (and i mean literally crazy) among other 'tragedies' doesn't mean it's the end of the world, it just makes one stronger when one does survive those things... For me, i'm thankful that god has been protecting us while giving us trials and tests to make us better people... i'm thankful for my crazy parents, who irritate the hell out of me and threaten to throw my stuff out cuz my room's too messy but still kinda spoil me the best they can and allow me freedom to do what i want... i'm thankful for my sister who is rude and irritates me too, but helps me with stuff and is often my partner in crime/bodyguard... haha... i'm thankful for all the friends i have made, ruobing and tiffany (who i miss so much cuz they're in jc studying for A levels, i haven't seen them in eons!), tracy and audrey (first friends in poly), and anthony, gim siong, perry, samuel, effie and kenneth... my friends are the one who keep me sane and remind me that there is a whole other world out there yet appreciate the fact that i grew up in such a chaotic household which made me who i am today...

Considering the amount of info that David Yates had to squish into a 2hour plus movie.... Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was a pretty good adaptation of the book... I thought the failure to mention the full prophecy and trelawney's role was a little disappointing cuz i thought those bits of the plot were quite interesting... but nevermind i'm waiting for the chance to read Hary Potter and the Deathly Hallows! Any kind soul willing to lend me a copy?

had a group meeting with my cds group mates and as usual, we spent less than 15 minutes out of the 2 to 3 hours we sat at the interchange mcdonald's on the actual project... what we did with the rest of the time? We ate McDonald's stuff and cafe stuff... i had the cappucino and chocolate raspberry which was ok... nothing fantastic... We had lots of laughter and cracked up half the time talking about the random stuff that came to mind... saw quite a few people... saw rizal who i haven't seen in a while... and hirzi and munah and huda...
oh well, loads of website stuff to translate... an article to write.. a short film to shoot... a radio drama to record... a term paper to complete... a research paper to be worked on... and stop press article and radio programmes to produce... wish me goog luck and hope i don't die of stress before the exams cuz i'm looking forward to the trip to china!

The past week has been hectic... so will this week... can't wait for it to be over...
finally got filming for single cam settled for next wednesday, and miss chee seemed nice when discussing our proposal with us, so i'm optimistic... anyone interested to act can tag me for an audition... haha...
not so optimistic on the monetary side though... i spent so much lately and i'm going to finally watch Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on Monday with Tracy, Effie, Sam and Kenneth... first time going out with Effie, Sam and Kenneth so i'm thinking it will be fun... hopefully we will take neo-prints... I miss taking them... and i got new contact lens, so it will be cool...

I have single camera quiz later and i'm not even touching my notes... ok, i read it last night, but what are the chances of me remembering it? Unless someone reads it to me, then i will remember... somehow i just remember things that way... so it sucks if i don't go for lectures or pay attention... *sigh*

BMR BMR... sigh... lectures are huge bores as much as i try to pay attention, my eyes constantly flit to the big lecture theatre clock, and they water as i try to keep from falling asleep... but the contents are alright, i guess... i sort of understand them... Then comes the project, tedious, what with 300 surveys and keying in every individual survey into what they call the spss, which kind of resembles microsoft excel but supposedly for data mining and analysis or whatever... Only good thing is that tutorials are only 2 hours and since i'm done with BOE, i get to reach home by 12+ afternoon...
I'm on an unrestricted salad diet... nothing crazy like tracy and samuel's acne diet, which is eat nothing except fruits and raw vegetables... i'll eat salads for every meal, just lettuce, cheese, bacon bits, thousand island dressing (my only indulgence) and either eggs or fish or chicken. Pretty balanced, i think... Oh, and no snacking as far as possible, unless i hear my tummy growling noisily which it has recently taken to doing in the quietest of locations like the audio or video suites... naughty tummy...
anyway, me, sam and tracy took these on monday while waiting to go for our chinese stop press meeting...
Then it's just me...

looking furtive...

I should be doing my assignments, i really should. Deadlines fill my daily schedule like land mines (see how they kind of rhyme? there you go...) Dangerous thoughts fill my head, bimbos and bitches around me just irritate me i wish they could be smashed dead. Emo doesn't help, sometimes cheerful has its downsides too... I wish people would use their brains to work things out and not just stick their 'hands' out for the answer... I wish people could be more observant and notice things so that i don't have to... I wish people could stop being so plastic and realise i can see through them straight away (it's one of the talents i have, that's why nobody really knows what i am really like, everyone just knows a portion here and there), i wish people would stop being late (but the concept of time is really subjective, but being early seriously will not kill and will save you from getting in trouble or some kind of fix)... i wish people will stop pretending it's cool to be emo, because emo isn't even a real thing, it just means that you are an attention seeker... i wish people will stop interrupting and finish listening to someone before speaking even if you have something to add... i wish people can understand that others come from different backgrounds and there are limitations as to what they can do, they don't have your same kind of schedule, just because you're free doesn't mean they are... i wish people will take certain things with a pinch of salt, cuz nothing really is what it is, and unless you give it some room for changes, good or bad, it will not hurt you as much...(my secret to being emotionless at emotional times...)

I've just realised that i have been wasting all this time waddling in F&B, when tutoring was so easy... so far, at least. I have been blessed with a cute primary two girl for a student and an understanding mother to boot... she gives me free rein over the stuff i want to go through and totally understands her daughter's attitude, which helps cuz some parents refuse to believe that their children have short attention spans, or are too playful and put the blame of bad grades on the tutor... I don't regret being in F&B, i've learnt a whole lot and accumulated a grand total of 5 recognised certificates...
On another note, i have been having weird dreams... i'm sort of concious when i'm dreaming, thinking 'this is so weird'... i don't remember most of it when i wake properly, but i remember the gist of it and it is disturbing... the same elements in different scenarios... elements that have been practically non-existent in my life since a few months ago... and it's been happening more and more often... is it a sign of some sort?
Reading other people's blogs, i find that they have complicated relationships, squabbles, quarrels and the petty whatnot... What the hell for? All the drama just gives you a headache, puts stress on you and is just a distraction on the more important things in life... it's just like a grown up version of the kindergarten/primary school 'friend you, don't friend her' situation... is it worth it?
And here is a photo of the bride's entourage when i was in philippines... (from left, gigi, Auntie Jeanne [maid of honour], lois my sister, the bride Auntie Roxanne, me, Alyssa and khaye)

I got a bloody F for my single cam proposal. I'm going to get an F for my second single cam skills test. It's looking like the end of my producing/directing career right now... unless i get an A or a B at least) for:

my single cam quizzes (which i diligently printed out and bound the notes for studying)

BMR is just like BMT, only you don't understand it. What with all the sampling stuff and stats and whatnot... Quizzes are actually easy had i paid attention in lecture and really read my notes...
Film theory isn't any better, so far i've got 2 Bs and 2 C+s, which still makes it a higher C+, a C+ nonetheless... Grrr... Miss ng better give me a better grade for the next film journals we are going to hand in, i put in lots lots lots more grey/pink matter in. There's still a term paper and an exam...
which brings me to my next topic... EXAMS...
i don't test well... my grades never reflect my real abilities (which explains the pathetic gpa), exams and written tests never do me justice, and winds up just pulling my grades pit bottom. Growl... I'm so not a study type person cuz NOTHING sinks in... I can do lots of the project stuff and score well, but EXAMS... Arrrrgh... People always tell me that exams always pull their grades up... Well, it apparently works the opposite way from me... I should have gone to republic poly, despite their supposedly wretched rep (although i think it's just from being a new school), where there are no damn exams to pull my gpa down... but it's kind of far... but it doesn't pull my grade down... oh well, kind of late to say that already... but i need to salvage my gpa!!! I desperately need an A!

I've been having an increasing amount of flatulence lately... perhaps it's part of pms... hmmm...
Done my CV, but entirely procrastinating on my film journals and BOE proposal that i'm supposed to hand in this week... i'm ungrateful, how many other people have projects that only require them to watch movies and write reviews?
Freaking customers got me freaking mad which got me muttering the f word under my breath... gosh, i almost typed 'breast'... but that's beside the point... mcdonalds has raised prices once again in two or three months... most customers didn't really show their reactions but i thinks it's a tad too expensive anyway... I thought something was funny when i saw the ads on the way to work this morning... and then came the climax of the day, some unreasonable customer (whose race/religion/country i shall not mention for my own 'diplomatic' sake, you can ask me in private though...) came up and ordered $20plus worth and tried to pay with a, get this, $1000 note! although it was not my first time seeing it, but receiving it as payment was a whole different thing... i asked the managers (diyana/mingru) what to do with such a big note, obviously there wasn't enough to change... so diyana told him nicely that we couldn't accept it and he raised a hullabaloo, 'Why you cannot accept? Airport no? Singapore dollar Blah blah BLah..." He threw the money on the counter and got so drama mama... so we went to the money changer and got it changed anyway for him and diyana said he apologised later... *i go ah-lian-ish* THINK WHAT? GOT MONEY BIG IZZIT? *ah-lian mode off*
