There have been a few issues bothering me lately.

Public transport:
Fare prices have gone down slightly, which is a good thing and it is still efficient enough during the peak hours. However, what bothers me, no, IRRITATES me is the behavior of the passengers, especially people who want to grab seats (sad to say, these are usually the auntie stereotypes). There I am, minding my own business, not even standing in anyone’s way (and it’s not even crowded) and somehow these people manage to smack me with their handbags to position themselves in front of the door, almost pressing their noses onto it. I didn’t mind when it happened once, twice. But to have it happen almost everyday, at least TWICE a day made me feel like kicking these people’s asses into the train/bus, and make them fall on their faces so that I can step all over them.

Politics:
These are just general thoughts that pop up on the odd occasion that I watch the evening news. People overseas never seem to be satisfied with their leaders, even after an uprising or whatever it is that causes a change in leaders. It’s just protest after protest after protest. Why are these people so free to protest anyway? Don’t they have to work, or have something else to do? Instead of wasting time, effort and money challenging the people working in the government, why not just do your job/look for a job, earn money and just ‘relak one corner’? All these protesting is bad for health and just decreases tourism for that country anyway, and isn’t the root of all these protesting money? It’s just so ironic.

Food:
The Geylang Serai rojak food poisoning incident just strengthens my dislike to dine at hawker centres where the hygiene standard is questionable. The floor is black with grime and food that has dropped on the floor, tables are wet/sticky/oily, and the overall look of the stalls is just unappetizing. I’d rather eat at McDonald’s everyday and get fat than eat at such places. And the thing is, the rojak incident is just one out of many other food poisoning cases, many of which are not reported in the news. If you taste the food and it just doesn’t taste right, DON’T EAT IT.
Then there’s the melamine milk case in China. A lot of people think that the quality of Chinese goods is questionable, but it is actually the work of humans in general. You don’t have to be Chinese to put unhealthy stuff on your products to cut costs. I’m sure that there are other people who do that too, if you read the news closely.

Overseas phone calls:
I’ve been making loads of overseas phone calls for my temp job. While it has been sort of interesting talking to people from different countries, what is annoying are (meaning there are more than one) the automated telephone operators that either cannot direct you to an operator, or just leave you hanging on only to have the line cut off in the end. And then there are those that pass you on like a ball to 5 different people who can barely speak English only to tell you that the person you are looking for is not available and tells you to call back/call another number. The thing is, some of these places receive calls that are mostly from people who speak their native language, and then when I call in English, they panic and I end up getting passed on to 3 or 4 other people till they find one that can converse fluently in English or worse, I get cut off.
And then there are the snobby secretaries. They are mostly nice or at least polite to let you finish what you need to say, but those that cut you off and hang up are just itching for a whack on their bottoms.

There are more things that I want to rant about but can’t recall cuz I’m suffering from STM loss due to too much Facebooking. Till next time.
